Washington, DC -- Day 2
03.04.2009
We started our second day in Washington, DC with a trip to Arlington National Cemetery. This may well end up being one of my favorite parts of our trip. We watched the “changing of the guard” in the pouring rain but it is a very solemn and beautiful ceremony. I took many pictures but because of the rain, the crowds and the fact that I was holding an umbrella in one hand and taking pictures with the other, some of them did not turn out real well. Despite all of that, I stayed and watched the ceremony twice. This picture depicts the somber mood of the place.

We had a tour of the capitol, spent time at the Smithsonian and had a brief tour of the Holocaust Museum. We ended the day with supper at Old Ebbit Grill. (one of the top 5 grossing eating establishments in the nation) Came home ready for bed!
Hopefully more pictures tomorrow!

We talked about the Arlington Cemetery, but ran out of time. Lucky you. It sounds like a very special place.
